Review Summary
|
|
NutriSystem® is a plan in which dieters purchase prepared meals directly from the company. The aim is to help them develop healthier eating habits which they can carry over for when they start eating regular meals again. If you’re the type who likes having food delivered, then you might like this plan. The price of NutriSystem® however, is higher than the other food delivery options available.

Principles of the Diet
|
|
NutriSystem® offers a monthly program which includes 28 breakfast, lunches, desserts and dinners.
NutriSystem® diet foods contain “good carbohydrates”. The overall meal plan is based on a low glycemic index focusing on complex carbohydrates. NutriSystem® meals break down more slowly and they stay in the system longer allowing dieters to feel full longer and keep them from gaining more weight in the future.

Diet Lifestyle
|
|
It you are a person who is constantly on the move, you know that diet foods take time to prepare and it can be time consuming (like the South Beach Diet). The prepackaged meals this diet plan offers cuts down on the preparation time. They are meant to replace the regular foods you usually have to buy. All you need to add is the fruit, milk, and vegetables. NutriSystem® also has vitamins and protein products to supplement the diet plan. In preparing the meals, you simply add water and heat.
NutriSystem® offers has programs for different types of dieters—men, women, Type II diabetics, and vegetarians. A list of possible meal items can be found at the official website, however the exact ingredients used are not posted.
Individual Programs Available
1. Women's Program
2. Women's Silver Program
3. Men's Program
4. Men's Silver Program
5. Type II Diabetic Program
6. All-Vegetarian Program

Cost
|
|
A 28 Day regular supply is priced at $326.36 (plus shipping & handling) for any program except for the Men's Program which is about $30 more. Hopefully this is because men consume more and not because the manufacturers are passing on Dan Marino’s fee as spokesman for the program to the consumers.
Most programs on their Auto-Delivery system cost $293.72 but you do not have to pay shipping & handling. Again, the Men's Program is a bit more expensive.
When considering this product, remember that you will still have to buy some grocery items to prepare the foods.

- The company once had retail stores but is now only online and globally accessible.
- Website provides useful and important information about the plan
- Caters to different types of populations/needs

- Few testimonials
Negatives
- Results are not immediate as it does not include any fat burning ingredients
- Maltitol is reported to be used as a sugar substitute in some of the foods
- Has received negative feedback from many customers some of whom have posted their comments on consumer blogs and forums. Click here to read more about these issues in this Nutrisystem blog.

Conclusion
|
|
In a market dominated by weight loss supplements in capsule or pill form, we think that Nutrisystem’s approach offers a different and effective approach to weight management.
